Benedict XVI

Arthur's Seat is not, knowingly, Roman Catholic. Mrs Seat perhaps should be, given her Italian roots, and Mr Seat is Church of Scotland, though he grumbles about its world view.

Why then our interest in the death of John Paul II and the election of Benedict XVI? Perhaps Peggy Noonan puts her finger on it in today's WSJ.
